Most viable Shard farm.
I am sorry for creating a new topic for this but the results of my search were a little old.
I was just wondering what the most viable shard farm would be now. I guess the spider cave is the best option but what build would be best, i have access to a warrior and an Assassin atm. I guess Wittes VwK would be pretty good (if it still works) as well as being conveniant (can kill scales).
What do you guys think?
Cheers.

Beach/cave is best bet. The warrior VwK farm works fine, or it did, My best suggestion would be farm UW on your sin and sell the ectos for shards if you need them.

A Leprechaun,
well this is from just what i've been doing with my assassin.
well my best solo run in Fow (beach) is about 35-40 mins. with a dual run it's about 30 miss or less. just have to keep the spider apart.
hum.. in a few runs solo i get about 3. dual run i've seen up to 5/6 drop. in some solo runs (if your bored) you can do that area past the cave and kill the groups of shadow w/ no monks. but that's another 30 mins wondering around and waiting.

i usually just kill all the snarling driftwoods and then group all the spiders in beginning about 20, and then kill and restart. takes about 7-8 minutes.

Sliver armor on the spiders requires careful placing and aggro. If you aggro the whole cave, you are basically SOL, the Healing Sprigs of 30+ spiders overpowers sliver.
But if you do them in small seperate groups, you can kill them pretty easily.
Usually the last few are not worth killing, unless you can drag them to something else. There is usually a Shadow patrol near the end of the cave you can use to kill the last few faster.
If you do happen to aggro too many groups and they are not dying, you can usually run back to the entrance untill a group breaks off, then go back and aggro the group again now that they are seperated.
I seem to get more shards from Shadow Beasts than anything else, so I tend to kill as many of those as possible on the way to the caves

They stop using Healing Spring if you get into melee range and equip a melee weapon. So just ball all 30+ spiders together and get in adjacent range to all of them.
You can kill the Shadow Army if you have Sliver Armour so I'd just do that. The kills will be faster since they most of them aren't Rangers.

Better spot for shards is the Shadow rangers and Abyssals in the begining.
If you feel lucky you can make a circut of the spiders and them for even more.
Now the thing is how you want to do that is upto you.

The truth is - Assassin can pwn like half the monsters there, except for wurms, ranger trappers and touch skill Shepherds.

Farm ectos -> sell ectos -> buy shards.
Isn't that easier, since the ecto droprate on spectres is pretty high and they sell for 2x shard prices.

Actually, you can't kill much in FoW, beside beach/cave with SF sin unless you bring something like the prot bond hero with you. If you're using sliver for the shadow, aggro too little and you wont have enough damage to kill, aggro too much and they can out heal your damage and kill you with zealots fire. manitoba1073 said you can kill a few shadow rangers and abyssals in the begining, but don't that trigger the quest and the NPC will die and send you back to ToA?
And in addition to Abedeus list of thing you can't kill, the skeleton ele also has Lightning Touch just like the Shepherds. Hydra has Inferno. And there are Shadow monks almost everywhere. Wurms you can actually kill though.

600/Smite the Great Battlefield.
Possibility of 1-15 shards, a lot of or a few rares, and the obvious other HM goodies, picks, tomes, and a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOton of exp. Mostly luck. I've had 7 shards drop by the time I cleared the Abyssals and Shadow Rangers, whereas others I've only had the first drop in the Great Battlefield. But its a good, semi-protifable farm otherwise.
